Hannah Taranto LMHC

Hi, my name is Hanna Taranto LMHC. Our minds and our bodies are always trying to protect us, sometimes they just don’t do it in the best way. I know how daunting it can be to find support. The key to change is under-standing. I believe that every negative or positive behavior is in place to meet a basic human need, and we need to understand the driving need behind those behaviors in order to change.

I have extensive experience with trauma in individuals from adolescence to late adulthood. I believe that trauma looks and feels different to every person; two people experiencing the exact same thing will have different responses. A traumatic event takes many forms, and I want to help you pick up where your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors come from, even if you have never experienced “trauma”.

One of my top priorities is to create a space where you feel safe to speak any thought or struggle. It is not an easy thing to come to therapy and speak to someone who is essentially a stranger and share the heavy feelings we all keep inside. I want you to feel heard and understood while still feeling pushed to reflect and change. My sessions are always led by you, the client. I am here to support and guide, but ultimately, you know your experiences and yourself best. I look forward to taking this first step with you, call or text now to sched-ule.

Favorite Books

I love to read so much that it is difficult to pick a favorite! My favorite books are typically historical fiction, and I find that I am particularly interested in European Royalty.

For clients, I recommend any book that brings levity to the healing process. Therapy can be so serious and heavy and sometimes it is nice to remind clients that while it is difficult, there is also so much happiness, humor, and self-love in the therapeutic process. I have recommended books by Faith G. Harper for both the humor and the science.

Hobbies

I have always been a reader and usually can be found with a book. Recently, however, I have been learning how to crochet which has been a very fun process. I love to just cuddle on the couch with my rescue dog, drink some tea, and crochet a little stuffed animal.

Funny Story

When I was 4 years old, I thought it might be fun to ride my parent’s Igloo cooler down the stairs like a sled. But I thought a safety check was necessary first. So, I sent just the cooler down the stairs for a test run. It went straight through the wall at the bottom of the stairs. As you can imagine, my parents were not happy about the hole in their brand-new wall. I thought they should’ve been glad I tested it with just the cooler first. The hole would’ve been much bigger if I was also in the cooler.
